Truely genius work from 'reworked workshop '- I am in love.

I thought I had seen it all when it comes to recycling bit and bobs to create one-off unique jewelery until 'reworked workshop' came through Godiva's door. Creator Amanda Stanford certainly has an eye for unwanted charms and bits that time forgot and skillfully placing them together to create pieces of art. I am amazed I have not seen something this genius before. It is now an absolute pleasure to stock and admire her work on sale now in the shop. Using bits of broken typwriter, old watches and various charms from silver birds, cats, to aeroplanes, trains and ever wonderful pieces of bric a brac you discovered at that parisian flea market and wondered what do to with it or thought one day you would. There is no need to bother now as 'reworked workshop' already have and to a very high standard.
Each piece is brilliantly crafted. From hairpins to badges, braclets and necklaces there is something for everyone. These photos really do not do this work justice so please pop in and check it out for yourself soon. xx

Reworking vintage ...........

One of my favourite things about Godiva is always the reworked vintage. I love recycling and it's where it all began for us here many years ago now. Susie in the studio has been working hard re-inventing some vintage dresses and here is what she did today......I think it's a great example of what we do here and how you can transform clothing. I especially like the bow detail on the belt of the skirt. Both on sale now in store for £30. x

FASHION SHOW BITS

So we took part in the Sublime Fashion show last night. It went really well and had a great response, I was backstage dressing the girls, as were Totty Rocks who got involved in a bit of last minute hairdressing. Rowan took some shoots of the catwalk. The evening was a success but am regretting that last glass of champagne as my head hurts today! So here are some photos!

Lately the studio has been working overtime, especially designer Rowanjoy who has been non-stop on the machine in preparation for Alternative Fashion Week in London were she will be showcasing and selling her work. Screen printed with her own design then embellished with vintage lace, swarovksi crystals and vintage fabrics each one as always is a unique design.

ChouChou Couture

A couple of weeks ago we launched a whole room full of new designers in the front showroom of the shop and we now a fantastic range of great quality design and tailoring. One of these designers is Chouchou Couture. I met the designer Silvia a month or so ago about potential stocking of her label in Godiva and was instantly impressed by her enthusiasm and love for fashion and drive for her own label and its certainly shows in her work. We definitely share the same philosophy when it comes to fashion. It's refreshing to met her at this stage, when the recession has hit the country and peoples enthusiasm and drive are somewhat deflated.
Her great construction and use of high quality fabrics is definitely worth investment.
Her is what she says about her label:
"Chouchou Couture is an emerging, Glasgow based designer label. We create bespoke and limited release garments and accessories inspired by the same city girls that choose and layer our pieces. The S/S 2010 Collection has been created mixing elements of vintage Italian tailoring and the lifestyle of the U.S. West Coast. All garments and accessories have been handmade ethically in Rome using local cottons, silks and leathers".
